Will shortly be updating the last ClearOS system from version 6.9 to 7.x (excepting a laptop with 32 bit processor stuck on 6.9).
I intend to install a VM server to host Fedora version 28 Workstation. The machine has an Intel i7 and 8 GB memory. The VM software itself will be running on an SSD and the VM machine on a Raid 5.
What do you consider the best VM for this application and why? By best, read the most efficient using the available resources, very good performance and free
This is the machine being upgrade, currently running 6.9... https://www.sraellis.tk/frame.php?number=26&monitor=danda_sysconfig

It seems like clearvm.com is still linking to the old ClearVM. You can get to ClearVM v2 by navigating to hc1.clearvm.com where you can use your current clearcenter.com credentials. There is no need for a new account.
The issue on Wikisuite may be solvable. Dave says you need a third NIC, but don't give it an IP address and configure it as a bridge. This seems to be a bit short on detail but I can't ask much more for now. -

It depends on your configuration. If you want to run a native hypervisor, then vSphere is the most feature-rich but with a bit of setup difficulty. If you want an easy setup and a straight forward operation, then clearVM.
In case you want a hosted hypervisor (running on top of clearOS), then libvirt is your choice. Kimchi UI will make VMs setup a lot easier. In case you run clearOS in gateway mode, then be aware that there are still some issues with networking that need to be fixed, as mentioned here: https://wikisuite.org/item266-ClearOS-in-Gateway-Mode-Refuses-to-Route-KVMs -

Hi,
I run Linux and Windows machines in VirtualBox VMs (headless Virtualbox) on my Clearos 7.x. I am very happy with the headless Virtualbox administered over command line. Very straight forward and always works. KVM is more powerful, but I never came around an option I need which Virtualbox cannot offer and KVM can.
BTW: Considering ClearVM I would like to see a fusion of ClearVM and ClearOS, something like Proxmox.
Best wishes,

I'll have to ask about the ClearVM version. I thought Dave had said v2 is released but just downloading now I am getting witsbits_worker_os.v93.iso so no indication of v2.
I have not yet fully understood the ClearVM metaphore yet. Is it a machine that you host but manage via the web rather than directly? If that is the case how do I get the VirtualBox machines from my desktop onto ClearVM? It seems odd to have to do it via the internet. I'd ideally be looking for direct management between a local desktop and the host server. Let's see what happens when I free up a desktop to play with. -

Running a VM of ClearOS in Virtualbox on my MacBook just to do some testing. I played a bit with ClearVM v1 but that was a bit disappointing. I don't know nothing of ClearVM v2. Maybe it's worth investigating cause you use already Clearcenter products. I can recommend Proxmox, but it's a bit pity they don't support Docker but instead LXC container. -

I am also interested as I may have a desktop coming free. I was considering trying ClearVM as v2 should now be available. The original ClearVM is old and lacks support of many relatively recent devices. I'd like to get my play ClearOS images which I run with VirtualBox on my desktop onto a proper server. An alternative for me would probably to run them on my ClearOS server with libvirt and Kimchi.
