what is causing this and how to resolve ?

That should be on you external interface, which is presumably set to DHCP. I used to have that problem on cable. The problem was that when you request an IP address you request it on 255.255.255.255. The DHCP server responds with, among other things, the IP address of the server giving the lease. I can't remember the details, but that server would never respond, so I'd get those messages from when DHCP started renewing (with about half the lease time remaining) until it expired when it would do a broadcast. I got round it by putting:
in /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf. I am not sure if anything needs to be restarted.supersede dhcp-server-identifier 255.255.255.255;
