I would like to install ClearOS 7.2 over an existing (and corrupted Samba) ClearOS 6.7 installation. I have multiple LVMs; seperated user data from system as much as possible (as per ClearOS documentation).
Can I savely install over ClearOS 6? Format only the LVM with system on it. Or would that be a problem?

The suva.service issue was recently added to the tracker - https://tracker.clearos.com/view.php?id=7311 I just added a new tracker item for the clearsync.service issue - https://tracker.clearos.com/view.php?id=7651

It's cosmetic, so those changes will happen on the next round of rebuilds for those packages.

I tried Firefox and Safari on El Captain and did not see any weird issues.

Encountered one strange Webconfig problem - using Firefox not all the items in the left-hand pane expanded properly at the first login. Logging out, closing the tab, and logging in again was OK second time around. e.g. for Cloud all I could see was the top half of "Applications" - Service and Updates were totally hidden. Similarly for Server and its sub-menus. Same wierd behaviour for both Linux and Windows Versions of Firefox.

Jean, unfortunately not. Even more so in this case as you cannot upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit.

Did not - that's a good idea. Tried the 64bit one with no success. Will download & try later tonight or tomorrow AM.

From 6.7 can I upgrade to 7.2 when it's running or any other future version?

I just installed Samba Directory and surprisedly the install went smoothly. I didn't expect that this beta app to install so easily. I'm not sure how to use this in a Apple environment but you can imagine that Apple is going to support this cause Apple is moving to SMB. I have to do some Googling on that topic. One thing I notice is that I can't add Flexshares because I can't select a group because there aren't any groups. Also when adding a user defined group it's not visible via the webconfig. When I add this same group again the webgui reports that the group already exists. I do not no if this is related to Samba Directory...

Fixed in the source code, but I won't push it to the build system just yet.

Download is OK - I was getting this when the load screen (grey) with status was showing up. Disconnected the KVM switch so it goes now so fast I can't see anything (including error). Maybe it's because my hardware won't support ClearOS as Tony suggested?

I'm not sure why you get this error. This morning I suspected a corrupt download but that is not the reason. Maybe it has to do with your hardware. You tried a other monitor?

I was convinced that you could check via the webconfig. Only I had not installed system reports yet. So I did. What I noticed is that the marketplace is very fast with loading (thumbsup)! I didn't know you could check via the cli. Good to know!

Well that's interesting. I never noticed that there was some IPv6-IPv4 magic with Apache. Sure enough, Apache uses "mapped addresses" (?) as described in their documentation. It looks like all the other daemons on my home gateway bind to just IPv4, or both IPv4 and IPv6, so it doesn't look like it's a common approach.

Yes, those were changed. The tracker item was not in the 7.2 Changelog because the "fixed in version" was not set. All good now - https://tracker.clearos.com/view.php?id=7061

Looks like your download is OK... Your md5sum agrees with mine, and mine passed the sha256sum check.

Are you aware of problems with that generation Atom and 64-bit linux? (there were problems with windows as well).

With it being old now and having limited 64-bit support maybe no graphics driver included by Redhat in Version 7? Note a lot of drivers were removed, I provided a link on these forums some-time ago listing packages removed. https://linux.web.cern.ch/linux/rhel/releasenotes/RELEASE-NOTES-7.0-x86_64/#removed-packages - one entry is "Assorted older graphics drivers".

Alright had the chance to mess with this more - here are my findings:


The integer error goes away if I install with the monitor & keyboard installed directly into the PC, no KVM switch
When I boot the unit it simply goes dark after I boot the machine. Speaking of which here is the hardware and works fine with pfSense.
Same issue when I test the media before install

I wonder if the repo (mirror) policies for the 7.2.0 community edition are changed, can’t find it in the change-log.
7.1 community edition broke at least twice ending op with a mishmash of ClearOS 7.1 and CentOS 7.2 packages. To be quite frank, for me the reason to abandon (testing) ClearOS 7.1.

Jean - I assume "goes nowhere" means that you cannot even get to the first screen that offers the install or test media options.

I downloaded the iso and have made a DVD. It boots fine, passes the media check and continues to the install so I believe the .iso to be OK.

This is the md5sum from my download

I don't know of a windows program to calculate the sha256sum, but I am sure if you tru hard enough you will find one. I used brasero disk burner on a linux workstation to burn the .iso. Note that some older windows DVD burner programs cannot handle some DVD formats. Sorry, I don't have a suggestion of which windows program to use as I try my hardest to avoid windows (and yes, I have tried every version from 3.1 to the latest 10)

EDIT: All good now. I installed an additional NIC and after some wierdness it all works fine. Had to initially hand-edit some /etc/clearos files first. Even though the netstat output looks the same - I can now log into webconfig and access the web-server - so whatever ipv4-ipv6 path was broken has now come good...
