  • I really like the custom firewall rule page. It's happened that I created custom rules and then forgot about them. The custom page will make it very nice to monitor /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall.local. Very convenient!

Traffic analyzer could be more than convenient...likely a lifesaver. Thanks for a great release.

  • Hi
Thanks for the great improvement on the LDAP module, seems it runs faster now, i've fresh install the 5.2 release and almost all modules are doing great for me, except for the "user import/export" seems when you click the link "export to CSV file" the module doesn't load. all i got is a blank page. Any idea?

  • @Shawn H. You should consider the password policy engine version 1.0. Many in the open source world use the "release early, release often" approach to software development. This basically means: release a basic version of the software early and then fine tune based on the input provided by users/admins/partners. Wny do software development manager do this? The process of creating detailed user requirements and then building the "end product" doesn't work with many software products (including ClearOS). That doesn't mean we didn't go through the process of gathering requirements. It means that we gather the requirements, write a technical specification -http://www.clearfoundation.com/docs/developer/features/password_policy_engine/start - and then shape a "safe" early version. By "safe" I mean that we won't back ourselves into a corner (for example, we pulled the "lock account after X failed attempts" feature just to be safe).

Your comment proves that the "release early, release often" model bears fruit! From talking to partners, to listening to subject matter experts, to trolling the forums, to learning about various regulatory requirements (HIPAA!)... not one mentioned the ability to have passwordless accounts. I'll continue the technical discussion on your forum post @ http://www.clearfoundation.com/component/option,com_kunena/Itemid,232/catid,10/func,view/id,14518/

  • The password policy engine as it is called is not really for defining password policies, it is more so that you can change a couple of things as per the preferences of the developers, not really for what you want to use. Very few options are available and they DO NOT allow you to define your own policies, only to minimally shape the policies the devs have created.
