    Hello Andrew,

I did found out you could telnet into a POP3 mail accout and tryed it, and i could get a connection whitout any problem.
That told me that the problem was not in the windows 10 firewall.
So i kept looking for a solution and luckely i found it.
Turns out it has noting to do whit clearos doamin or the zarafa server

You have to set the ProtectionPolicy in the registry to enable a local backup of the MasterKey instead of requiring a RWDC.

The only thing you need to do is find the following key using regedit

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Protect\Providers\df9d8cd0-1501-11d1-8c7a-00c04fc297eb

And add a new DWORD (32bit) subkey whit the following name "ProtectionPolicy" and set the value to 1.

    ANd your problem is solved

Took me about 2 weeks to find out why my mail did not work, hopefully i save someone a lot of trouble whit this post :-)

    Hi Frans,

Can you successfully telnet your POP3 account when logged onto your domain profile?

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd789740(v=exchg.80).aspx (scroll down to "Procedure" for telnet instructions)

Alternatively, try installing and configuring a different mail client such as Thunderbird...... either method will help establish if this is an Outlook issue, or something deeper within Windows.

    Cheers..... Andy

    Hello Ben,

    Thanks again for your responce.

I have looked at the log files you suggested but no error or sign of a failed login.

I have the feeling that the validation request is not leaving the windows 10 workstation at all.
Something internal is stopping the request.

Pop3 does not work at all, i have also tryed to configuere an outlook account instead of my own mailserver but i get the same error.

As soon as i join the cleasos domain something gets blocked. when i go back to a local accout on the machine POP3 is recieved like normal.

The big question is what is stopping the POP3 validation request from leaving the workstation when i join the clearos windows domain ?

I hoped some one had the same problem and found a solution.

If i find out whats wrong i will post it here, but im affraid it will take some time to find a solution.

Have look at your log files (/var/log/maillog, /var/log/zarafa/*)...maybe there's some information in there.

Out of curiosity, does POP3 work? Maybe Windows 10 is throwing up over a certificate?

    Hello Ben,

    Thank you for your responce.
I did add the line to the config file and rebooted the server.

I did not change any thing to the fact that i can not recieve pop3 mail.
I also tryed to config a outlook account and found that it has the same problem.

I have the feeling that authenticating the pop3 password is failing some how.

    Frans,

I don't think this is your issue since you don't say anything about issue logging into the domain, however, it's worth a try maybe since it is specific to Windows 10.

    https://tracker.clearos.com/view.php?id=9361

In addition to the "server max protocol = NT1" mod in /etc/samba/smb.conf you should also do the registry edits.

After a reboot of the work station (and a restart of Windows networking - smb and nmb services) on the server, see if that works.
