Hello,

I've recently installed ClearOS and paid for the Community Edition of Zarafa. Thanks very much to Tim for making this available to us.

I discovered after installing Zarafa Community in ClearOS that it was very out of date (from 2012). I inquired through ClearOS ClearCare Support about the old version and was told that Zarafa Community is not supported by ClearOS for upgrades and that I needed to do this upgrade myself. They informed me that I could upgrade Zarafa Community using these instructions:

yum --enablerepo=zarafa-community-71 upgrade zarafa*
Will get me updated to 7.1.8-4279.

yum --enablerepo=zarafa-community-testing upgrade zarafa*
Will get me updated to 7.1.10-44973

My question is what is the proper path to upgrading Zarafa Community Edition on ClearOS? Do I need to upgrade manually using instructions like above or will one day Zarafa Community be updated through my ClearOS Auto Update? I'm concerned that if I begin going down the road of manually upgrading Zarafa Community only to find that ClearOS one day updates my Zarafa Community that the auto updates from ClearOS don't mesh with my manual updaes and my Zarafa mail breaks.

Thanks very much for any assistance you can provide with this question.

    Hi Tim,

Thanks very much for your response and details.

I'm very happy to hear that I can safely upgrade to WebApp 1.5-44025 - ZCP 7.1.10-44973 using the testing repo. So using the zarafa-community-71 repo will keep my Zarafa on ClearOS patched and updated for me? Will this include an upgrade to WebApp version 2 eventually?

    Thank you.

    Hi Tim,

does this apply to z-push also? I'm a Blackberry smartphone user and am having issues since upgrading to 10.3.1. I need to upgrade to version 2.2.2. Any advice on upgrading would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers,

    George.

Hi Charles, the zarafa community RPMs are only provided through the ClearOS yum repo's (zarafa-community-71 or zarafa-community-testing) so will not be inadvertently upgraded by the autoupdate and break your mail stack.

The setup is slightly ad-hoc because when ClearOS 6 first launched Zarafa was at 7.0.x. Upgrading to Zarafa 7.1.x branch is not reversible and requires a onetime database upgrade and also a license key change if you are on a paid subscription, so it is left as a manual choice... If you wish to take the step then run the commands as posted above, both versions are tested and working fine with ClearOS 6.

If you want to enable the repo permanently enable the repo using the following so that you pick up future updates
    yum-config-manager --enable zarafa-community-71

    Thanks
    Tim
