Hello all,

Windows person here, so be kind :-)

I hope you can help me. I have inherited a ClearOS system a few days ago at work as the guy looking after it was fired. My manager has tasked me to support it.
Anyway, the worst has happened. It's failed with a message "the account manager isn't running" and its sems to be offline. Nobody can login and I have not yet got to grips with this server and OS.

What to do? It seems the former administrator installed a "Community Edition", whatever that is, and there is no contact for support. Is this the correct place for help?

Bob

NVM - managed to fix it. Used the search here and eventually found out about LDAP and restoring config from the backup and how to do it. Frustating with screaming users, not familiar with linux and wasn't expecting new user wait to be approved in forums. Work part time (plus emergency call-outs) maintaining the windows work-stations. Accepted 1 extra day on a temporary basis per week to maintain the 3 ClearOS servers (one backup turned off, one internet facing and one for users files - local access only) as my manger was desperate. Not sure whether to continue or tell him I want to go back to just windows and previous hours. Not a great start.
