Hi, I have tried and I have searched but I can't get it to work.

History, I have ClearOS as a firewall/gateway basically, then I have a NAS connected to it and some computers. I would like to be able to remove my NAS and use the ClearOS server instead for that. What I want to be able to do is upload files internally by mapping a network drive to my computers, and then, access them from the outside with FTP/NetDrive or something else that is easy and quick.

How? It is so many steps that I need to get right, LDAP and groups and flexshare and ... and ... I get lost and don't get it to work.

I will son upgrade to the newest ClearOS when I buy a new Ryzen 3 when they arrives. IS there a good newbie guide somwhere that explains this step-by-step, and maybe also explains WHAT it means when I doing it so that I learn?

Once you have created your flexshare(s). you can log onto them with ftp and create folders like that or out can map them into Windoze. In Windoze, in the File Explorer or My Computer you can Map a Network Drive, but remember to "Connect using different credentials" to be able to enter your ClearOS user name and password. Alternatively in Windoze you can use the "net use" command. I have struggled getting Windoze to reconnect properly on start up and use a third party utility to do the mapping. Once you ave a drive mapped you can create folders as much as you want.

If you have created your flexshare can you post your /etc/samba/flexshare.conf?

If you don't have them already, useful tools to administer your server from Windoze are WinSCP and PuTTy, but don't create flexshare sub-folders with WinSCP or you risk permission problems.

Good point, might have to wait a bit to get a Ryzen..

Yes I have looked at those Guides and tried to follow them, but, I don't know enough to "link them together", I have created users and groups in LDAP, and installed flexshare, but,for instance I could not create a folder or anything that a user or group could reach, and so on, it is the entire chain of settings that I can't link correct :/

Have you seen the User Guides? There are sections there on the Windows File Server (which you'll need), FTP server, Flexshares and the Directory Server, Users and Groups. Keep clear of Active Directory or Samba Directory. You will probably want to keep Windows Network (Samba) in simple filesharing mode unless you want to use it as a Domain Controller. I use simple filesharing mode.

Before you go down the Ryzen route check there is compatibility to RHEL or Centos. RHEL does not live on the bleedin' edge so can be behind with its hardware compatibility. Centos follows RHEL and ClearOS follows Centos.
