hi,

i just installed ClearOs on a proliant DL380 G3, everything is fine even if i am very noob with anything other than windows (great job to programmers for that)

there is just a little very major problem that im stuck with and i hope that you guyz here can give me a solution for that.

fan control need additionnal hp software on windows server to work, so this software is obibiously not provided for clear os, as my linux abilities are limited to: (copy paste command to a terminal) i cant find a way to get control of thoses 12 fans that are sounding like a saturn 5 launcher when at full speed(default speed)

there is a way to have control of those fans ?

Thanks a lot for you to read this

ps: im french speaking usually , so there is some possibilities that what i am writing is unreadable i apologise

    Hello,

Wich generation Proliant DL380 are you using.
Because proliants should start whit fan's at max power but when past POST bios boot they should throttle down.
The temp sensors in the prolaint then should controll the fan speed automatic.

So i think you have to do some adjustment to the bios to get the fan's to auto.

I have no idea about setting up the account. I set up my environment before this method was available. Presumably if you run "clearos setup" it will prompt you for a user name and create one if it does not already exist. Alternatively do a
    useradd -d /usr/share/build_user_name -r build_user_name
Then specify that during the clearos setup command.

I use the user "build" and to get to his environment I use the command "su - build" from a root session. Note the "-" is important.

i was just looking to see differences :D but now i know

    but now
In the clearos setup command, please specify a new user account instead of using an existing account in LDAP. In development mode, LDAP may not always be available so it is not advisable to use an LDAP user.

    how to do that

Why do you have clearos-test enabled? Ditto clearos-epel and clearos-epel-testing? Please disable them and only enable them from the command line with the yum switch "--enablerepo=clearos-epel,clearos-......". If you leave them permanently enabled you'll mess up your system which you may have already done. clearos-core is OK to enable.

half done with a warning at the end

warning: rpmts_HdrFromFdno: Header V3 DSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID 6b8d79e6: NOKEY
    Retrieving key from file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-ClearOS

The GPG keys listed for the "ClearOS Community 6 - i386 - Testing (Alpha)" repository are already installed but they are not correct for this package.
Check that the correct key URLs are configured for this repository.

should i do something fot that ?

If you use Windows, get hold of WinSCP for a graphical file manager and text editor and PuTTy for remote terminal sessions. Then set up the development environment following this.

If you have updated your kernel you need to reboot the server for the update to take effect.

    hum hum

ill probably make you laugh but... how to insert a command via web interface?

i have no longer access to a 15pins monitor.

in pfsense that was simple log to interface----> admin ---> command input

    afther that,

in a terminal i shoult type
yum list installed | grep -i kernel
    rpm -e kernel-2.6.32-71.el6 kernel-devel-2.6.32-71.el6
yum list installed | grep -i kernel
    yum install kernel-headers kernel-xen-devel kernel-devel gcc pyOpenSSL
afther i download the support pack for redhat6

at this point the tutorial looks to have information missing because the rest of tutorial have been made for the old way (download each program one to one) and have not been updated for the rest.

some can help to make my way trough :D?

unless this little problem due to my linux inexperience, i can say that devs have make a good job with this o/s to make it so user friendly and i hope that this o/s will continue in that way :D tooks me only fews hours to make my full setup from install to complete configuration (was using pfsense before to clearOs and that was not appropriate VS my knowledge level and support possibilities for low bsd knoweldge users)

and i want to say it again guyz ,i am very happy from your support even if i speak really bad english you guys try your best to help me and i really appreciate it (will see newers users soon :D)

I've bumped into this link and this one. I don't know if they will work with your machine but it may help. I am not sure yet where to find the 32bit programs.

I doubt very much if en el5 package will work on 6.x. Which is the specific package you need to control the fan speed?

I tried doing a bit of research yesterday and came to the same conclusion. The only thing was I think I read somewhere that the package is 32bit only and I don't think the 64bit version of ClerOs provides 32bit compatibility packages. I could be wrong with both of these statements. It would be helpful if you could fine el6 rpm versions of the packages to save compiling - unless HP provide binaries only. Also I can't check now and don't know exactly which packages are needed but for one package I saw it only went upto RHEL5 and not RHEL6.

FWIW, ClearOS 5.x is derrived from CentOS which, in turn, comes from RHEL. ClearOS 6 comes directly from RHEL but most CentOS packages are compatible.

    i have continued my researchs

if i understand correctly, clearOS is derivated from CentOS that is himself a derivate of redhat entreprise

so i assume that is possible to install hp healt drivers and software for redhat entreprise

so this is supposed to be possible to install this software hp website

into clear os ? or if there is other thing ?
