Hi Clear Community :-)

I am new to ClearOS.

I've browsed the forum and I didn't knew where to post this thread...So here it is.

I need to use shell terminal on my server but I am unable to see anything because an error message is getting posted every 3 seconds on the screen erasing what I wrote even when I am in "nano" for example. This is driving me crazy! I would like to see what I am writing and to see the output for more then 3 seconds.

The error is related to one of my hdd being a WD. I found this thread that could fix the error message I am receiving.
"http://iwtf.net/2011/05/19/western-digital-sata-errors-under-linux/";

Is there any way to hide these error messages ?

or

Would this error messages be avoided if I would use SSH to remotly connect to my server?

Thanks a lot for any help on the matter, Sorry for being such a newbie :-(

    Problem update... GONE !
I woke up this morning and the problem was gone. No more error messages and all I did was let the pc run for the night. I did not modify anything.
My bet is that the error message had something to do with the raid building up, I have 3 raid arrays (md0,md1,md2) and now even after rebooting I don't have any error message.
Thank you for the support Nick, I'll now focus on my other problems like SSH "Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic)" in order to access the box remotly.

You can post screen shots as long as they are less than 800*800px. Your image is blocked at my work place so I won't be able to see it until later.

Ok I am back after some testings with no results.
I am no longer sure that the error concerns my WD hdd. I have 7 hdd connected to the pc...
I have took some screenshots of my screen to get more informations about my setup and the error message.
How can I let you see them? is there a way to do that here?
is says problem with ata8 device.

Thank you a lot for your feedback Nick.

Also have you checked WD's site for firmware updates?

Are you replacing the X in sdX with your drive letter?

Thanks Nick I'm working on fixing my ssh and hopefully I could fix the ncq problem via ssh.

Thanks for the url to disable the ncq.Unfortunatly this line : "echo 1 > /sys/block/sdX/device/queue_depth" tells me permission denied. Even with the partition is unmounted.

I think the error would be avoided by using SSH. Try it and see. I virtually never use the console - it is in the attic.

If it is an NCQ error, hoave a look at this post to enable and disable it.

BTW your link is broken (it has a " at the end which should not be there)
