Hi, on my clearos set as GATEWAY MANAGEMENT BUSINESS do I or should I not install and start the content filter engine and web proxy server? From what I understand they shouldn't be installed right?

At this point it makes little difference because the proxy is running and it messes with GM. It just affects tp proxy port you use on your clients.

If you are running the proxy in transparent mode it is not worth much these days as it does not intercept https so cannot virus scan https. A lot of traffic these days has switched to https and almost obsoleted the proxy in transparent mode.

The Proxy needs to be running for the gateway AV to work and traffic needs to pass through it. It is a trade off between the powerful filtration from GM or the Gateway AV. personally, as all my PC's run an AV product I see little point in a gateway AV.

So should "content filter engine" and "web proxy server" be installed and started or just installed? In the descriptions the thing is not clear! However, I use the GATEWAY mode and I have Premium Gateway Antimalware by Kaspersky in the package.

Yes it is normal. The Gateway AV only works through the proxy. It probably may not uninstall it if you use the Mail Antivirus or the Antimalware File Scanner.

If I uninstall "content filter engine" and "web proxy server", "Premium Gateway Antimalware by Kaspersky" also disappears. It's normal?

It is best not to install it. If you do install it all web requests to GM will appear to come from the proxy so it becomes impossible to identify the traffic by MAC address and therefore apply different filters to it in GM. Also the proxy/content filter is quite resource intensive and really needs to be operated in one of the non-transparent modes which requires you to configure all the PC's.
