When office@ngwenyaglass.co.sz sends to newemailaccount@ngwenyaglass.co.sz they never leave the office but sit on the local server. I can see them in webmail when accessing the local server, but I cannot receive them with outlook which is setup to send and receive from the remote email server (hetzner.co.za)

newemailaccount@ngwenyaglass.co.sz can send to successfully to any email address. The only email address that newemailaccount@ngwenyaglass.co.sz cannot recieve from is emails sent from the local mail server. They just sit in webmail and never end up on the remote server.

I setup an email account on both ClearOS and the remote server. I don't know if this was right. They guys who set this network up here in Swaziland have not been very helpful at all. Infact this email account has been like it for 18 months now.

The server is running ClearOS 5.2... I know, its old.

Hopefully
Ben

    Thanks again Ben.

I wonder if I change everyone's outgoing to using Hetzner will the other computers in the office be able to see if someone has replied? I fear not as it will bypass the local setup? Though I am not sure?

Anyhow. I have changed my outgoing and incoming to the local IP address, re-added the maildrop entry and it all works now.

What really annoyed me is it took 18 months before the company who set up the net work would tell me that I had to use the local ip address in outlook, but at the same time they actually deleted my maildrop entry so that when I added the ip address it still didn't work. They just wanted us to call them out to the office to flick a switch so they could take a large sum of money from us...

    Thanks for your help!!

It's a strange setup...I *think* I understand what's going where and what you want.

If I do, I think the answer is for you to configure outlook clients and webmail to send out via your SMTP relay (hetzner.co.za) and never use 'localhost' or the server's LAN IP in your client/webmail settings.

This will force all mail to be pulled down from hetzner.co.za, and distributed to the inboxes you've configured in fetchmail.

This has been a hard issue to explain and usually gets misunderstood... Let me try to explain better.

ngwenyaglass.co.sz uses a third party (hetzner.co.za) for sending and receiving emails, but it goes through ClearOS local server which distributes office@ngwenyaglass.co.sz to 5 different computers in the office. This is to save on downloading a message multiple times.

office@ngwenyaglass.co.sz can send and receive to and from employee@ngwenyaglass.co.sz. office@ngwenyaglass.co.sz can also send and receive from all external email addresses (except is cannot send to newemailaccount@ngwenyaglass.co.sz.

newemailaccount@ngwenyaglass.co.sz can send and receive from all external email addresses. newemailaccount@ngwenyaglass.co.sz can also send to all local email address (stored on ClearOS) however newemailaccount@ngwenyaglass.co.sz. cannot receive from any local email account.

    I hope that makes sense!???

Hey thanks for the Reply Ben,

Do you mean in my outlook account? Outlook is working fine for "all" out going emails, however the only emails I cannot receive from is office@ngwenyaglass.co.sz. All other emails externally are being received perfectly.

On the contrary office@ngwenyaglass.co.sz can receive and send to all emails addresses so the server is configured correctly I believe.

I think there is something wrong with the way newemailaccount@ngwenyaglass.co.sz is setup in ClearOS.

In the SMTP configuration, make sure your "Mail Domain", "Mail Hostname" and any "Destination Domains" do *not* contain the domain of the email you are sending to remotely.

I'm not 100% I understand your requirements, so I hope I'm not misleading you down a bad path.

I added a maildrop entry and now I can send from external email and recieve successfully on the local server. But still when an email is sent from the local server it only gets received in local webmail.

How to I make sure that it gets sent out from the local server to the remote?
