I have a number on ClearOS servers running. All with the same hardware and version.
for Some or other reason I am getting the following errors on my latest box when trying to load apps
Any ideas?

Error, no packages selected for install.
OpenVPN
Exception: [u'ERROR with transaction check vs depsolve:', 'openvpn >= 2.4.2 is needed by app-openvpn-core-1:2.4.9-1.v7.noarch']

I've branched your post as it looked irrelevant to the original issue.
What is the output to "yum repolist"? If you have a Community installation more than 30 days old, clearos-epel and clearos-centos-updates should be enabled. If they are not, please enable them with:yum-config-manager enable clearos-epel clearos-centos-updates
