Hello

I have downloaded the community installer and tried to install on a Dell Optiplex with core i5 and 8gigs ram. I am not totally new to such things, I am currently running Untangle which I unstalled myself.

However I cannot get it installed, it goes through to nearly the end then says that it could not install the bootloader, a few seconds later it crashes out badly with screen distortion and mouse not working.

I tried in UEFI mode and it does this. I tried to install in legacy mode, where by it goes through the installer then suddenly the screen goes black with just the mouse cursor. After waiting some time I gave up and restarted where by all I get is a flashing cursor.

I tried removing the HD and cleaning with DiskPart but the out come is the same.

Is there anything else I can try?

I'm afraid I don't really know Untangle, but ClearOS is more than just a firewall. It is a one-stop firewall/file server/mail server/webserver/gateway plus more.

    Hi Nick

Thanks for the response. Actually I tried again in legacy mode and it successfully installed.

I have got to the set up screen.

Just so I can check I am not going up the wrong tree here, this can replace Untangle?

    Many thanks

    Gary

Can you try zeroing the boot sector of the disk. It is a simple dd command which I can't remember off the top of my head.
