Hi

I know there are a few similar threads but they all seem to end in defeat. Is there any updated information on how to block skype?

I can't block the download because the users are students who download and activate skype at home and then use it at our college.

They all have personal laptops

    Hi Martin

I have tried that before and it did work for a while but the new version gets through again.
The problem however is that the campus staff still use skype between campuses and we don't want to block them.

If I can block skype via an acl in squid or such then I can set up individual access.

We don't have a problem with skype per se but our network can't handle all the students making video calls to their friends.

It might be me, but in the Protocol filter, these 2 lines are present: (ClearOS Ent. 5.2 SP1)

Skype to phone - UDP voice call (program to POTS phone) - VoIP, Peer-to-Peer
Skype to Skype - UDP voice call (program to program) - VoIP, Peer-to-Peer

Now, personaly i havent tried using these two, but they did draw my attention.

Or is it so that you also need to block text communication for during exams?
