I'm test-driving clearOS for the first time, installing it on a virtualbox VM. I've installed it now twice with the same result. Everything installs perfectly, the software updates in the UI and over ssh using yum. All the most basic default apps are listed, available, and configurable.... However, when I select an app for install from the marketplace, it never actually installs. It remains in a limbo of having the ability to "remove" it and select for install again, but never installs, never adds more options to the left-hand menu, and doesn't appear to create any activity in the "recent software activity" in the cloud->software updates (though there's plenty of activity there from just updating the installed software).
have full access to ssh and the web interface through two network adapters, can ping them, dns is working, and all command-line commands I'd expect to work and resolve work great in the command line.
I also logged in to the clearcenter.com portal, and it says "marketplace enabled" under marketplace ACL, and lists my system as "ClearOS Community Edition 7.7-1". Under "subscription details" it shows everything I've tried to download and the $0 cost for that 'subscription'.

Any ideas?

Zachariah - two things to note.

    1. CleaOS 7 is out of support. It no longer gets updates and hasn't for some time. Any ClearOS installation is becoming increasingly vulnerable to being compromised. If this concerns you - look elsewhere. I presume the Market Placeplace is still functioning, some other services for ClearOS 7 have already ceased or intermittant. We have been promised a replacement for some years now - but nothing yet.

    2. Did you register the new install with Clear Centre? Also note that Version 7.7-1 is old. The latest download should be 7.9.1, I think. If you really want to install ClearOS - then download the latest verion and try it. I seem to remember that there was some sort of problem with updating older versions. Details should be on these forums somewhere of the reqired action to update. No idea if you are being hit by that bug. However, installing the latest .iso would be the better option to take.

Thank you. Thank goodness for these forums; I read around last night and discovered as you said that it's not being supported anymore. I gave up the hunt for answers and looked elsewhere.

I'm going with a opnsense firewall and a separate trueNAS scale (linux) server, which has very good container and virtual machine (kvm) support, so anything else I want to run will be really easy to manage. I considered running opnsense or pfsense in a virtual machine on the trueNAS machine, but I'm a purist and don't want the extra security surface area of any potential virtual machine vulnerabilities or mis-configurations; I prefer my firewall to be on baremetal.

I also considered nethserver 7, which on paper seems to be similar, but apparently the upcoming nethserver 8 is dropping firewall support, so for my use-case of primarily firewall and storage I'm just going to go with the top providers of those two things.

    Thank you for your reply!
