Hey All -
I'm running ClearOS 7.1 (Final) and have a 1G/1G fiber connection, as such I am running ClearOS 7.1 on pretty robust hardware for home use:
Intel Core i7
32 Gigs Ram
500 GB Hard Drive
Intel Dual Gigabit NIC
I am able to reliably get around 950 down and 910 Up (within specs) with a vanilla Clear OS 7.1 install.
Things take a turn once "Gateway Antivirus" 2.1.15-1 is installed. My speeds then fall on average to around 250 GB with just this one marketplace app installed.
Once I uninstall this application speeds return as normal. Is this particular application not multithreaded or able to support this speed? If not, will it be upgraded to do so?
What are the main differences between Clear OS 7 Home and Business? Are there any restrictions or limitations with regards to speed/performance on the home version? I have a 300M by 300M connection and want to make sure the Home version doesn't have some kind of speed/restriction that would impact my speed. Eventually I hope to get 1G/1G speed.
Does ClearOS 7 now include the ability to have a User Portal or a built in bypass method for the content filter or is it basically unchanged from Clear OS 6?
Apparently it was on the Clear OS 6 roadmap per this thread:
Found this and it appears to answer it.
Looks like installing 7.x beta is the way to go...easier to upgrade to the final release once its out.
Upgrade Path - Easier to install 7.1 Beta and Upgrade to Final or Install 6.X and Upgrade to 7 Final?
Hello All -
Prior to doing a clean install, I am curious which method is the best practice.
Given that 7.1 is in beta - is it best to understand that in a home environment (knowing its beta of course) and be able to upgrade to the final version when it's released or is it best to install the Clear OS 6.X Pro version and upgrade to 7.1 when it's final?
In otherwords, I haven't been able to locate a thread or FAQ that outlines the upgrade paths available to production users using 6.X or beta testers to the final release version once 7 is ready.
