Hello, first time ClearOS User/Poster so apologies for missing obvious steps.
I have ClearOS running well so far but need to configure the wlp2s0 interface as an external WAN gateway.
I have been able to get the interface configured with nmtui as a dhcp client with working routing etc from the cli, but cannot solve for how to get ClearOS to use it as a WAN.
I can attach ifcfg-$WIFINAME script file, etc as needed.
I am familiar with manually configuring wpa_supplicant etc if needed, I just dont know how to get this interface under the contol of ClearOS.
To clarify, I am NOT trying to use this as a WLAN host-apd device.
Thanks,
Kat

If you are not using VLAN's on your WAN, can I suggest you install the app-network in updates-testing:
Then at least you'll be able to see your interface in the IP Settings screen. You could also try posting to this thread and see if Todd responds.yum update app-network --enablerepo=clearos-updates-testing
From memory, setting up wpa_supplicant is only a few lines. NM may be overkill unless you have some fancier requirements. -

Ms Morgan,
Can you share how you setup the wireless WAN using NMTUI?
I'm trying to setup a COS 7 box as an Acess Point and cache proxy on an old laptop. (ideally having a wireless WAN)
Many posts inform that networkManager is not compatible with COS 7, but will be working on COS 8, but can be done manually on COS 7. I use Debian distros with a GUI on a daiily basis, Red Hat distros using the CLI are a bit finicky for me.
Step by step instructions would be helpful,
Thanks!! -

Hi and welcome. Can I refer you to the help documentation? I believe installing app-wireless-core also installs wpa_supplicant but you'll then find the webconfig only supports WEP encryption on the WAN. You will need to configure wpa_supplicant manually for WPA and it *may* cause a conflict with the webconfig but I've never tried it.
