Hi,

I am using ClearOS as a Home Samba server and also a Plex Media server. Currently I am running version 6.7 of ClearOS. When I installed version 6.7 ClearOS it joined my two 2Tb SATA drives to look as one 4Tb drive. I would like to upgrade to version 7.x but I am afraid that if I install Clearos 7, i will lose the drive join info and therefore all the data on my drive.

There doesn't appear to be any upgrade path from 6 to 7. I am happy to lose the version 6 install, reinstall plex and Samba but I don't want to lose the data stored in /var/flexshare.
Suggestions?

There is one slight glimmer. You can do a configuration backup from 6.x and restore it to 7.x. It's not bad but has a few holes in it (cyrus-imap certificate not backed up and a few other oddities). Make sure you've installed your apps in 7.x before you restore. I had the same problem.

There is no upgrade path from 6 to 7...you'll have to re-install, and as such, you'll need to find a way to copy your flexshare/home folders to some other medium so that you can transfer back when you're on v7.

When 7 was released, I was in the same situation as you...upgrade seemed daunting. Wasn't nearly as bad as I anticipated.
