Hi. I'm very new ClearOS and somewhat new to Linux. I can't seem to figure this issue out myself. Whenever I boot my server with a USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure to a USB 3.0 port, the system boots very slowly and eventually hangs before getting to the password screen. If I plug in the same device with a USB 2.0 cable or use a USB 2.0 port. The issue doesn't reoccur. I can't seem to figure out why this is. I've tried multiple cables, all 3.0 ports, checked the health of all drives, swapped drive locations in the enclosure, and power cycled the enclosure. Nothing seems to help. I've also plugged this enclosure into two other machines and the issue doesn't occur within Win 7, 10, or Ubuntu.

It is not the boot drive. I did some more testing and it seems that the USB 3.0 ports on this particular computer are problematic with certain devices. I purchased a USB 3.1 PCI-e card to see if that resolves the issue. If not, I will edit the fstab and report back.

    Thanks!

Is the USB drive the boot drive or just an attached drive? In the dmesg, boot and messages log, do you see any odd messages? If it is not the boot drive, have you tried adding the option noauto in /etc/fstab for the drive? Add it to the parameters but with "defaults, bind" in it.
