Hi,
Yum update has been failing for a while in 6.x because of devel package mis-matches:

krb5-devel 1.10.3-57.el6 released, krb5-libs @ 1.10.3-42z1.el6_7. 1.10.3-57.el6 in clearos-updates-testing
openssl-devel 1.0.1e-48.el6_8.1 released, openssl @ 1.0.1e-42.el6_7.4. 1.0.1e-48.el6_8.1 in clearos-updates-testing
libselinux-devel 2.0.94-7.el6 released, libselinux @ 2.0.94-5.8.el6. 2.0.94-7.el6 in clearos-updates-testing
libevent2 2.0.21-2.v6 released, libevent2-devel only in clearos-dev.

I've temporarily removed libevent2-devel as I think it is/was only needed to build libreswan.

Thanks. libevent2-devel has now appeared. I've also noticed a libevent2-doc.noarch in clearos-dev. Not that I need it, but does it also need promoting?

    Maybe. I'll check.

I thought this was the same devel issue we'd always been having but this time it seemed to have gone on longer than usual. I'm sure it is over 2 weeks now, so I thought I'd post in case it had been overlooked. I'll keep waiting and I don't expect it to cause any issues.

You're on top of it Nick! Yes, usually it only takes a couple of weeks for an update to flow through the repos, but we're in the 6.8.0 release phase now. All the upstream RHEL/CentOS 6.7 updates have been pushed through and nothing more will be coming until 6.8.0 is released.

Do you have any idea why libevent2-devel has never been released?

Ahhh... good catch. The package was hiding in the clearos-dev repo, but I just promoted it to clearos-addons. This package is a bit of an anomaly. Tim B built a custom libevent2 package to support an app (Transmission BitTorrent?) but Red Hat decided to release their own libevent2 package in RHEL 6.8 - https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHEA-2016-0930.html . Even though this new libevent2 package is an update intended for version 6.8, we had to promote it in ClearOS 6.7. I don't know all the details, but it had something to do with the old compat-libevent package.

    Hi Nick,

That's the old developer repo architecture problem in ClearOS 6 (resolved in ClearOS 7). We're staging ClearOS 6.8.0 in clearos-updates-testing -- as soon as we move packages to this repository, the "sister" xyz-devel packages automatically move to either "addons" or "extras". In essence, the xyz-devel packages are too far ahead right now. Unfortunately, this is a problem that we're just going to live with for version 6. Fixing the repo architecture would be nice, but we don't want to risk causing repo problems, especially since we're talking about command line only developer packages. The devil you know...
