Hi,

I don't know if this is just something I am doing wrong, or I just missed a setup step somewhere, or whether it really is a (pair of) bug(s).

First oddity: noninteractive widgets:
When I log into the web admin of my ClearOS 7.1 installation, I can configure a ""dashboard"" (I thought that was an OSX thing, but whatever) to have a number of rows, and each row can have a number of columns. Default is row 1: 3; row 2: 1; row 4-6: none. I have experimented with this and the only time the combo box actually works (ie it pops down receptive to a selection) is when there is exactly one column for that row. Any time there are more columns for that row, all the comboboxes is nonfunctional. Clicking it does nothing. For now I've simply set row 2: column 1 to Shutdown because otherwise finding a way to shutdown ClearOS is a bit like hunting through Windows 8 control panel for the hidden option to shut it down.

Second oddity: hyperactive widgets:
When I log into the web admin of my ClearOS 7.1 installation, there is a navigation table on the left. Bringing my cursor anywhere near this has erratic animations going haywire with text appearing and disappearing and bouncing around and folding up and folding down and vanishing the moment I try to click on a link. It's like whack-a-mole. I'm always clicking on the wrong thing because something above my cursor arbitrarily decided to push the content down, or withdraw all the content upwards so my target isn't under my cursor any more. It's very frustrating and counter-productive. Reminds me of someone who's just got their hands on Powerpoint for the first time. Have I flipped a debug "feature" or is this "normal"? How do I disable it? Having all options unfolded is fine; having all options folded up until I click on them one-by-one is also fine. I only can't use this random hide and seek animation where I must hold the cursor still for five seconds until it calms down, and try to quickly click a link before it evasively moves somewhere else.

Hi guys.

The theme guys have already been alerted to the left hand navigation menu bouncing all around.... Hopefully they will have an update soon.

In the meantime, you could try the alternate menu style....to change navigate to System > Settings (app/base) and click on Edit in the one theme. There is an update that hasn't hit the mirrors that fixes that menu too in some browsers, so if the icons at the top are not displaying correctly, that fix is coming too.

Regarding the dashboard....I'm curious to know what browser you are using and if you could post some screenshots.... Haven't heard that before.

    Fantastic - thanks Ben!

You're very efficient in tracking down workarounds and fixing bugs! Much appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering if this non-popping up widget affected only the Community edition or if it was present across all editions?

Marking this one as solved. Thanks again!

Looks like this issue is due to the fact that you can sort widgets (drag and drop) in rows containing 2 or more columns....Issue described here.

Will see if any of the suggested workarounds/solutions work.

    RE: Dashboard on Firefox

WTF...Can confirm your issue using FF on Mint. Fascinating..not.

    I've created a bug report.

Will get it fixed once I figure out what is causing the issue

navigate to System > Settings (app/base) and click on Edit in the one theme.
I clicked on System, then clicked on Settings, then clicked on General Settings, then clicked on "Edit" for the "ClearOS Admin Theme". Inside that page, under "Settings" I set "Menu" to "Category Headers". Now when I click things, they open! And when I click them again, they close! Fantastic - thankyou very much for that. It has made the interface significantly more usable. Very much obliged.

Regarding the dashboard....I'm curious to know what browser you are using and if you could post some screenshots.... Haven't heard that before.
Certainly! I'm using the latest version of CentOS 7.2 for AMD64. It has Firefox on it, updated with
    yum update
and no plugins. Just for the sake of comparison, I tried out Pale Moon (AMD64) and Waterfox (AMD64) on Windows 7 64bit (with all Windows Updates) and get the same result.

I hope these screenshots are helpful. Let me know if I can provide any more information.

Thankyou. That's good to know it's systematic behaviour and not something I ticked by accident. This way, lots of people will experience it and it will have to get fixed. I did try to fix it by disabling Javascript (with the NoScript browser plugin) to see if that would help, but so much of the web admin depends on that, it was infeasible. I don't even know if Javascript is the culprit. The devs will know I'm sure.

And how about the comboboxes thing? Did you also find that 1 "column" produces a functional combobox and 2-6 just results in "dead" comboboxes?

Thanks for the quick response! Much appreciated.

Hi T, thanks for the feedback the devs do read the forums so hopefully will pick up also

I've also noticed the erratic side menu display as you say in your second point when hovering over menus, it can be difficult to select the item required on smaller display screens, as far as I know there isn't a way to disable it without hacking the webconfig scripts?
