Automatic updates have stopped working and a manual yum update gives:
http://download1.clearsdn.com/centos/7.9.2009/centosplus/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404 - Not Found
Trying other mirror.
What's up?

What the problem appears to be is that the centosplus repository is not longer available on the ClearOS servers.
That indeed appears to be the case but Clearos should have removed centosplus from the repository list as well avoiding these update- and repository listing crashes.
However the current status is that most users are not aware at all that the automatic updates have crashed already for quite some time.
To get the Software Repository App and Software Updates App going again one should go to the commandline and permanently disable the centosplus repository.
yum-config-manager --disable clearos-centosplus
However it could be that ClearOS reinstates the centosplus repository and it therefor would be a better compromise to have yum still try to contact the repository and sub-sequentially skip it when not found.
Because of this try and fail routine each time, the process will be slower.
yum-config-manager --save --setopt=clearos-sentosplus.skip_if_unavailable=true
