Hi all
Sorry if this is not in the right place, it was ether here or the Proxy forum.

My setup is ClearOS 6.3 with WebProxy and MultiWAN running. One connection using PPOE with a wait of 4 and the other a eth DHCP client connection waited as 1.

This is a home setup and due to a light fighting being changed the power to my eth connection was cut for a little while.
While the eth connection was down I was no longer able to browse the web. Yet my steam game client was still able to download a game and my putty session to the server was still downloading an srcds game server.

I found that the server could still ping external address but my Windows 7 client machine was not able to. What was interesting was that with the windows machine I could no longer ping the server via host name! DNS issue? i thought!

I also noticed in webconfig that my WebProxy had stopped and trying to restart it via webconfig resuled in no joy. So I tryed a "service squid restart" (not sure if thats the correct service) via putty to find that it restarted fine, not even a warrning that it was not all ready running. Checking webconfig told me that it was still not running. Amoung the things that I tryed (restared both the server and my PPOE router/modem ) nothing worked untill the eth connection came back online.

I have looked at the squid log's via webconfig but I dont understand them. If any one reading this would like me to post a log please tell me where from and I shall do so.

It seemed that both the local DNS and proxy where not working from what I can tell.

Has any one elce had this issue or can recreate it?

Thanks in advance

    Good News!

Now that I have just retired have a little more time, so based on Peter's recent append here http://www.clearfoundation.com/component/option,com_kunena/Itemid,232/catid,19/func,view/id,50177/#54048 - downloaded and installed the latest 6.4 (32-bit) together with all the latest updates on a test machine.

Pleased to say that multiwan now works for me in the same circumstances where it failed before - so if further tests are successful (mainly mail related) - then I will be happy to run 6.4 on a production machine.

Very disappointed to still see reports like this (I don't log on that often nowadays..)

In this append http://www.clearfoundation.com/component/option,com_kunena/Itemid,232/catid,39/func,view/id,48354/#48403 I indicated I would wait until 6.4 was available and then test if Multiwan worked. From these reports seems like it is no better and I would probably be wasting my time- so I will wait and see if Version 7.X of ClearOS is any better. In the meantime it is still version 5.2 for me - and if that goes out of support before ClearOS Multiwan works properly - then my firewall will be pfSense and internal server CentOS - both already tested for the applications and functionality I require...

Same issue. If one WAN goes down, in any way, all workstations cannot ping the internet or browse, just lose all internet connection. The server loses ping connection for some, but still gets connection back, each time one wan goes down. Simulates pulling the cable or phone line from the modems, and also simply pulling the cat5 from the network card. Always the same result - all connections break.

Fresh install, all updates. Only multi-wan installed, nothing else.

    Kernel Version 2.6.32-358.6.2.v6.i686
Version ClearOS Community release 6.4.0 (Final)

It doesn't appear so. When one of my WANs go down clearos stops handing out DHCP addresses, not sure about the proxy though.

Same here with my fully-up-to-date 6.3 server.... not sure how long it has been broken as I just had my first ADSL problem since the Version 6.3 machine was installed - and it didn't work... no internet traffic at all when the ADSL went down. Tests showed cable was still up... (One external interface is Telstra Bigpond Cable, the other TPG ADSL2+)

Have restarted my Version 5.2 backup server and now MultiWan works correctly again with my two ISPs... tested to verify :-)

Version 6.3 put on ice for now...

I'm having exactly the same problem with MultiWAN setup. When one of the WAN loses link, everything stops responding!!

    Any workaround for this?

    Hey!

I'm facing a similar problem. After 1.5 years using 5.2 flawlessly, today a decided upgrade my system to 6.3.

Here i have 3 lan card, eth0 assigned to my local lan (192.168.1.0), eth1 to my cable connection (dhcp, 10mb) and eth2 to my adsl (4mb).

Looking in the IP Settings, eth0 is set to lan with static IP, eth2 is set to external and configured to pppoe. If i configure eth1 to lan, my clients can access the internet, but, if change eth1 to external (DHCP and link is down), all clients stops working.

Logging in through ssh to ClearOs box, i can ping any external host, no matter eth1 configuration, but i can't ping any internal client.

I already have my system updated using yum, as Dave said, but i still can't get everything working.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply Dave
I did update it while my connection was down and restarted after with no joy. The server its self seems fine internet connection wise. just the clients loose the internet.

All so the listed updates (of which i can't remember what they where) none seemed to be for the what i believe to be the affected packages

Never heard of that before. Make sure you have the latest updates though since some work has been done on multiwan since 6.2

    yum update
