I feel somewhat sheepish admitting this, but I had installed Webmin 1.890 and while I was using it, I noticed it had the option to update it to 1.900, so I did ( much cooler interface than 1.890). While I was looking through it at my different servers, Webmin didn't show a DHCP server, but it did show an unused module for one (see where I'm going with this?). I clicked on a button (I can't remember what it was called), thinking it would take me to another page, but it had Webmin install a DHCP server. I now notice config files in /etc/dhcp that weren't there before. When I check service dhcpd status, it shows dead. Now I've come to realize that DNSmasq is actually serving as the dhcp server on ClearOS, so I'm wondering if I could've even broken or compromised anything. I'm normally really careful using Webmin, but I had a 1:00 a.m. brain fart and now feel pretty stupid. It doesn't appear that the files in /etc/dhcp/dhclient.d were touched. I won't know until I'm back in the office if DNSmasq is still functioning like it should, but everything looks OK in the Webconfig DHCP configuration.

With luck it would not have started because another program is bound to those ports. The docs indicate that you should have to manually install the dhcp server program but the docs are 3 years old. Check in your yum.log to see if it installed anything with yum, but be careful about using yum to get rid of anything again. It can remove more than you bargained for so check the prompts carefully. Otherwise use "rpm -e --nodeps ...." to remove the packages explicitly.

DNSmasq seems to be working just fine. No harm no foul. Lesson learned. Thanks for your insight.
