I installed Kimchi with:

yum install app-kimchi

[root@columbia ~]# rpm -qa | grep kimchi
app-kimchi-core-1.1.8-1.v7.noarch
app-kimchi-1.1.8-1.v7.noarch
kimchi-2.5.0-0.v7.noarch

The problem I can't start app-kimchi. The server also boots with app-kimchi in a stop state.

I checked if libvirtd:

[root@columbia ~]# systemctl status libvirtd

..and it is. Not sure why Kimchi doesn't want to start.

    - although your problem may be different. What else was installed at the same time as kimchi?

This is a default install with only Kimchi. Fresh and new from ISO 7.7.

I've seen that thread and I installed app-dns. After that I rebooted the server and ClearOS started with wizard and there were dns errors. So I removed the updated app-dns...

That is really not helping. When kimchi was installed, it should have installed wok and a bunch of other rpm's. A lot of them would be libvirt rpms but what were they? Can you post all the rpm's installed at the same time as app-kimchi from your yum log.

re the app-dns installation. Are you saying that you installed it before the first-run wizard? If so, what errors was it giving? I am wondering if it has something to do with having no trusted interfaces when first installed. This is something I would like to debug if at all possible. Is your server in standalone or gateway mode?

    [edit]
I forgot to add, now you've run the wizard, can you please reinstall the app-dns update. It has a feature you need or you will need to do a manual configuration.

I do see an install error:
sed: can't read /etc/dnsmasq.d/*: No such file or directory
But it did all the right things. I'll see if I can correct the issue.

    [edit]
I was being an idiot. Most of the output removed ....
The one line error is being corrected in app-dns-2.7.5.

re the app-dns installation.

    [/edit]

No, the wizard was executed before I installed the updated app-dns. I try again less see what happens!

Update: Haven't the slightest idea why it triggered the wizard the first time after rebooting the server. User error? The only way to find out is to do a complete re-install of ClearOS.

    Anyway, it's updated now.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread a bit but it's kind of related. :)

So, I have just installed Kimchi based on the instructions from Wikisuite.
    It won't however start.

a systemctl status libvirtd -l gives me the following and I don't know how to continue:

    ● libvirtd.service - Virtualization daemon
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/libvirtd.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: active (running) since sön 2021-03-07 18:05:03 CET; 1h 10min ago

mar 07 18:05:16 xxx.yyy.zzz libvirtd[1563]: dnsmasq: failed to bind DHCP server socket: Address already in use

The server is currently set to Gateway Mode but I don't have the need for it any longer since I'm just using it as a standalone server, so would my problem be easier to fix if I put it to Standalone and can this just be changed without anything else breaks?

Server currently only have two NIC's, External and LAN. No VLAN no Virtual and no Bridge, Bridge button is not even enabled.

    Any help is appreciated. :)

Please create a file in /etc/dnsmasq.d. I called mine for_libvirt. In it put:
    bind-dynamic
    except-interface=virbr0
Then I think it best is you can restart the server. You could try restarting dnsmasq then libvirtd, but I have a feeling it won't succeed.

Did you call it "_libvirt" or "_libvirt.", not "_libvirt.conf"?

Maybe a stupid question, but I'm not that skilled in Linux and thereby I have to ask.

Anyhow, tested to save it as "_libvirt" and the error disappeared but it's impossible to get Kimchi running from the UI. :-(

Probably have to go the other way and install kvm and whatever I used back in the days with Gnome as a graphical UI on the host itself, but it sucks a bit since what I've seen from screenshots of Kimchi, it would really meet my use case and I wouldn't have to go to the host machine and have a monitor, keyboard and mouse attached to it all the time.

I actually called it "for_libvirt", but you can call it what you want. It does not matter, Any file in this folder is used by dnsmasq.

Kimchi does run if you can get it going. I have it running but it was a few years ago that I got it going. It is a third party app and, unfortunately, no development has been done on it. Did you try rebooting? Is the service wokd running? If not, do a "systemctl enable wokd --now". What is going wrong when you say it is not working?

I know it's a third party app so no hard feelings from me to anyone, it's just so frustrating to be able to click the "Start" button just to see that it failed. :)

The wokd service seems be the problem for me, or there is at least something messed up in the Python scripts:

[root@system ~]# systemctl enable wokd --now
    [root@system ~]# systemctl status wokd -l
    ● wokd.service - Wok - Webserver Originated from Kimchi
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/wokd.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)

    Can you try installing fontawesome-fonts:
    yum install fontawesome-fonts
Let me know if it is already installed.

Wow! That seemed to be the problem! :D

Now I just get a NET::ERR_CERT_INVALID when accessing it but this is handled and out of scope for both ClearOS and Kimchi. :)

    BIG THANK YOU Nick!

You will then get another issue if you upload any iso's as they don't get usable permissions. Each time you upload one can you run:
    chmod 0644 /var/lib/kimchi/isos/*.iso
    or, perhaps:
    chown qemu:qemu /var/lib/kimchi/isos/*.iso
