ClearVM Feature Request

ISCSI support

Storage Area Network (SAN) is not supported but we plan to enable it at some point, please ping us if you want us to prioritize iSCSI or Fibre Channel support.

I see this message on the ClearVM site. I think I can make use of it. My Synology supports ISCSI.

I must say I absolutely have no experience with ISCSI but it looks interesting. I also have ordered a Ubiquiti Edge Switch for my rack. I want to use bonding. The Synology has 4 ethernet ports.

    Hi T,

This is a feature request for iSCSI support for ClearVM but thank you for the links so we can use this also with ClearOS.

If you meant to say you want your Synology system to access block devices attached to your ClearOS installation via iSCSI over the LAN, then just follow:

    • http://suresh-chandra.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/iscsi-configuration-on-rhel-7-centos-7.html link
    • http://www.certdepot.net/rhel7-configure-iscsi-target-initiator-persistently/ link

as if you were using CentOS (which you are).

If you meant to say you want to install ClearOS onto an iSCSI target provided by the Synology system over the LAN, then this is already something the Anaconda installer supports. I've just installed ClearOS onto a ZVol over iSCSI no problem. Beware that the Anaconda installer only gives you one chance to correctly specify your iSCSI initiator iqn. If you enter it incorrectly, you'll need to reboot and rerun Anaconda before you can type it in again correctly.
