I am running the latest ClearOS on a Dell R310. Is it safe or recommended to install Dell's Linux version of OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) on the device? I need better monitoring and visibility but am a bit concerned that doing so will break ClearOS. The install instructions are at: http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/.

I don't know the app. Does it require a desktop? If so then it won't work unless you install the graphical desktop as well. there is a HowTo in the knowledgebase. Otherwise, if you have rebooted to the latest (so, centos) kernel then most packages compatible with Centos7 and EL7 should be compatible with ClearOS. -

Nick,
it is designed by Dell to manage and monitor their servers, storage etc. We use it on out MS Windows servers and it can be run from a GUI on the server itself or from a remote console. I mostly use the remote Windows console, so the application acts as an agent on the managed server. I will not need to use a GUI on the ClearOS box but the OMSA agent provides me visibility into the server hardware etc.
It is compatible with Centos 7 and EL7. In fact, I tested it on a Centos 7 VM to see it it worked without any weird problems during the installation process. And installation went through ok. I just was not sure if there are any peculiarities about ClearOS that would create problems.
