How to setup VLANs
I've read through the forum posts I could find on VLAN and have tried various configs but I've made no progress. Any help from folks that have been here would be appreciated.
I have available to me a cisco managed switch and a edgerouter x which can also act as a VLAN aware switch.
My original thought was create the VLAN's on COS assign dhcp to each vlan in cos then connect a vlan switch. On the switch I tried assigning port 2 of the switch to vlan20 , port 3 >vlan30 and so on. I enables dhcp on the ports thinking it would grab ip from COS when on the vlan.
VLAN1 > switch port 0 (connected to COS LAN adaptor)
LAN2 > VLAN20 > switch port 2
iot > VLAN30 > switch port3
wifi > VLAN40 > switch port 4
wifi guest > VALN 50 > switch port 5
I've set the trunk to 1
and others are untagged
Am I missing something? Is there something unique about the COS vlans and how they connect to switches?
Should the Vlans and dhcp be setup on the switch?

I don't know anything about managed switches, but setting up a VLAN in ClearOS can be done directly through the webonfig, so VLAN20 would be given a VLAN ID of 20.
I am concerned about DHCP. I think managed switches can be use as DHCP servers, In this case the clients won't get their IP's from ClearOS but from the switch.
