I can't advise here. There is info on the forum and I think in the documentation. Otherwise the raid program is mdadm and you'll need to google it.

    Norbert,

I haven't tried RAID with ClearOS, but on Windows I've used RAID0, RAID1, and RAID5 using the Intel and AMD motherboard chipsets.

RAID5 performance is horrendous if a rebuild has to occur. I was testing with five 2 Tb drives and pulled one drive. It took over 1 week for the RAID5 rebuild to complete. And the system was so slow in the meantime that it was unusable.

RAID1 rebuild performance was also slow, but at least the system was usable during the rebuild. My recollection is that for a 2 Tb drive it took about 24-48 hours for the rebuild to complete?

I use RAID0 for performance. Obviously there is no backup if either drive fails.

For a hardware raid, if it is on the motherboard, use the motherboard's manual. It is independent of the o/s. Having said that it is generally not recommended to use a m/b hardware raid. If the m/b dies you may have trouble getting another one which uses the drives the same way to form a raid. You'd do better to use a software raid in that case.
