Hi everyone,
First off I just want to say that I am new to clearOS and to server management in general so please bear with me.
I have purchased a HP Mikroserver Gen 10 runing clearOS and it contians 2x4Tb harddrives.
The only function I want this machine to have is to work as a remote ftp for external contractors using portions of the internal storage as server space.
After installing clearOS and adding the apps for ftp and flexshare and creating groups and a few test users I am at a stop.
1. How do I access the internal storage and how can I create folders etc to share with specific users?
2. I am on business plan bronze but there is no storage manager in the marketplace?
3. I can't seem to find any documentations or youtube videos explaining how to do this?
Some friendly guidelines would be great to get me started

The best thing to do is activate your free ?.poweredbyclear.com DDNS host name. You can try changing it to something memorable from how it was created. You'll find it under Cloud > Services > Dynamic DNS if you have it installed. Then in the DNS server, have an entry connecting your DDNS name to your ClearOS LAN IP. Then you can use the DDNS name both internally and externally. Otherwise just use your external IP when external and internal IP when internal. -

Hi Nick,
Thanks for the feedback!
I have set up the server to run as a gateway and its connected directly to the internet now.
All flexshare folders seems to be working fine. I have opened up ports 989 and 990 in the firewall for FTPS as well as the passive ftp range 60000:60999.
In filezilla (in which I have followed the clearOS setup guide) I am not sure what to set at host? As I am not running a webserver with an active name I suppose is has to be my external ip that is shown to the internet or am I wrong?
Thanks -

Don't worry about the storage manager. It is a way to manipulate space, but currently it pushes you back to the command line. It can be installed from the command line with:
But it probably is not worth the effort.yum install app-storage
FTP can be dodgy behind a router and is better run on the gateway.
Anyway, you'll find you have already created folders for your flexshares under /var/flexshare/shares. This is where you land if you ftp the normal way into port 21. Flexshare access is controlled by groups, so if you want separation of users, you'll need one share per user and one group per user. You can add yourself to each user's group.
Alternatively, if the user ftp's to port 2121, they will land in their home folder. This is already secured to the user, but routers may have problems handling ftp over port 2121. You'll have to try it. You will find it harder to share files from the users' home folders.
If you want to access the flexshares in one go as a samba share, it is possible to create your own share manually at a level higher than ClearOS does so you can see all the shares in one go, but don't bother about that until yo are happy with how ftp is working.
Start off by seeing what happens when you ftp into port 21 as a user.
