I need to have a Dropbox folder located at a public Flexshare folder so every local user has access to it. This folder will be mapped on windows machines as a network drive. Can I install the Dropbox app and set the folder location to a Flexshare folder other than the home folder of a user? If i understand correctly, the app only works for individual ClearOS users, which is not what I need. I need everybody on my local network to have access to it. Maybe it would be a better idea to have a group where every member has access to that shared Dropbox folder.
Will I have to use another script to achieve this?
I'm open to suggestions

I still have this problem with permissions,
Is there some default scheduled script that sets the permissions on flexshares or the root user folders?
I think I could just setup a cron job to set the permissions every night, but that is not really a solution. I think it would be best to set the folder ownership to multiple users or groups.
Any thoughts?

I've run into another problem
The files and folders were downloaded and synced by Dropbox as the root user, so when I tried to change, add or delete anything via the network access with a regular flexshare user, I was unable to.
I set the folder (/root/Dropbox) permissions recursively to 777 just to ensure I could write to it and I worked, but my doubt now is that if I upload any files directly to dropbox using any other pc or device (phone) the file will be downloaded to the ClearOS box with the wrong file permission.
So I wonder if there is a way to add the /root/Dropbox folder to the flexshare group/users or any other way so that the files can be written by the users in the flexshare group.
Any ideas?

I've set the fstab file immutable by using this command "chattr +i /etc/fstab"

Well, didnt take long to find the first problem.
I had not set the default website, and when i did so, the FSTAB file was changed, deleting my custom mount binds and that caused dropbox think all data stored on the mount was deleted and so dropbox synced it, emptying itself. there was about 30 GB of data. I was able to restore the data via dropbox website, that made the data start to sync back to my linked computers, but its taking a long time.
So I wonder, is there a way to put the mount points in the fstab and not have it deleted by other settings changed in clearos web-interface?

Hi Marcel,
I've managed to get somewhat of what i want with a manual install of Dropbox and mount binds directly on the fstab.
So far so good, i'm monitoring the "solution" and hopefully i'll be able to post some info on the outcome.
I might indeed file a feature request, but not only to be shared on a public folder but to backup the whole /shares folder, that way every share would be backed up
In this particular case, the problem is that the account is used by a family, at home, so they have different shares for their stuff, family photos and videos, files, college documents etc, all in different shares and it doesn't make much sense to pay for an account for every family member. -
