Hi, I have v7.4 up and running as a gateway. Am I right to say that the comminuty edition also gets all updates like antimalware, antispam, IDS, content filter blacklists, antivirus although not as regularly as paid versions?

As far as I know you will get antivirus/antimalaware updates. I don't think there are any free Community anti-spam or IDS updates and the default IDS rules are old. I don't know about content filter blacklists but I would guess there aren't any on Community unless you subscribe.
If you search the forum you'll find info on how to do your own IDS updates using Emerging Threats rules. I believe these are the same as the paid for updates except there is a 30-day delay on their release and you also get rules which are still being refined so not necessarily perfected.
