After a two year journey into retirement I am bringing my web and email services back in-house. I have purchased ClearOS Home Essentials and will be using Zarafa community for email.. Frontier no longer provides static IP's so I believe I need to use dynamic dns. I have a registered domain name and am in the process of transferring that domain to Clearcenter. If Clearcenter is handling the domain is dynamic dns required? Do I set up the DNS records with the current assigned dynamic ip address and then clearcenter handles updates?

When I go in to set up the DNS records I see that the name servers are pointing at Network Solutions name servers. Will the name servers be updated automatically once the transfer is completed?

Several things need to happen in the right order so I don't lose access to my email (currently on GoDaddy with MX records at Network Solutions).

Any thoughts appreciated. I have always used static IP's for my customers and in-house and I need to get this right.

Thanks!

    Hi,
I did something similar earlier this year with a slight added difficulty that I have a .co.uk domain which is not handled automatically. If you have one of the ones Clearcenter is set up for, it should be easier.
First off, replicate your DNS set up in Clearcenter
In Clearcenter, change your Dynamic DNS for your server to your domain. It should appear in the dropdown. Remember to clear out any sub-domain entry.
I'm not sure if you or Clear have to change over your name servers. I think Clear do it for you.
Once changed over - or even before -, activate your MX backup.
Only once your MX backup is activated, change your MX record over to your own server. That way you minimise the risk of losing mail.

If you are struggling, raise a ticket. Clearcenter were very helpful to me.
