There is now a ClearOS 7.9 iso available for testing at https://mirrorlist.clearos.com/clearos/testing/7.9.1.325269/iso/x86_64/. I have tested it in a Proxmox VM so far.

Please post any issues to this thread.

[edit]
Note the two iso's listed there are the same, or, at least, in the background one is a symlink to the other.

I have just released to the community an update to clearos-release, but it is not a valid test to update the package with yum because a post-install script sidesteps the issue. More valid would be to install it with rpm and the --noscripts option. Something like:
    rpm -Uvh https://mirror1-newyork.clearos.com/clearos/7/updates/x86_64/RPMS/clearos-release-7-9.2.v7.x86_64.rpm --noscripts

The only really valid test will be when a new iso is produced, but that can't happen until the package is released to the paid repos next week.

To get round this issue we are going to have to release an app update to clearos-release. It is trivial, but, because of the release cycle, it can't really go to business until next week. Only then can I rebuild the iso. Until then, the workaround I posted is fine, and it won't matter if it is left even after the app update.

There is a problem with one of the apps, I think (yum-marketplace-plugin?), but the person I need is in the US and works one day a week. If you need the 7.9 iso, you can get round the problem with:
    echo 7 > /etc/yum/vars/releasever
This will override the derived value and allow you to proceed. If we work out a fix then this file **may** be deleted again.

    Can confirm working

Was JUST about to post on that, still occuring here

Edit: I made this video showing the process to produce the error, may as well not go to waste

If you have automatic updates enabled your running system should be the same or later than the install iso because updates are released weekly. The iso is a picture of the updates at the point in time when it was created. If you install from an old iso, it will update to the newer version automatically.

The advantages of installing from a newer iso are:

    • More up to date kernel so, hopefully, more hardware compatibility
    • Less updates needed straight after installation
    • In this case (7.9 iso), a more up to date yum-marketplace-plugin which can allow us to change the back end settings to something resilient without causing a marketplace problem if you happen to be offline during the first-run wizard.

Try it and give feedback. If we get good feedback from the community, we'll release it unaltered. So far there has been no feedback from anyone.

It just has all the updates released at 7.8 and 7.9. 7.9 was just a maintenance release. 7.8 had updates to Samba and a few other apps but I can't remember what. Obviously the kernel has been updated.

There is one key update to the yum mechanism which allows us to change how you access the repos. If we flip the DNS settings over and install with the 7.7 iso could have issues if you start off with out full internet connectivity when you run the first-run wizard.

Installed on a ClearBOX 300 fine, though attempting to use the marketplace results in not finding the default repo location.
Exception: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: clearos/7-9.2009
