ClearOS 7.8 is now available for beta testing. If you want to try it out please do:
yum update app-base initscripts --enablerepo=clearos-updates-testing
yum clean all
yum update
If you get any EPEL dependency errors, instead of the "yum update" you can do "yum update --enablerepo=epel-unverified".
A reboot is advised following the update to bring into operation the new kernel.

I will need to search out a change summary for Centos 7.8 as it is the bulk of the change. The only other significant change is that we are reverting to upstream iptables as we no longer need the IMQ patch.

Please post any issues to this thread.

Also enable clearos-centos-sclo-rh, and, if you have to, epel-unverified.

The dependency issue is with ImageMagick.x86_64
When I exclude this, the update will continue

    This gives :

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

All we used to do for iptables was add a patch for IMQ, used for the old bandwidth manager. We stopped patching the kernel for IMQ with ClearOS 7.7 so could have reverted to upstream then. I only noticed when patching this time round. As such it is only a very minor update to the ClearOS released version.

-- Newly installed ClearOS community 7.7 version in VM

-- Update to ClearOS community 7.8 following the notes above.

    -- Rebooted.

Everything went smoothly! No issues to report at the moment.

Has the change to iptables upstream any benefits for Podman?
