I cannot import users on new, fresh install, ClearOS 7 server. The import users app is throwing an Invalid DN Syntax error. I can manually add users, and they work fine. I've tried re initializing the LDAP database. No Joy. Any ideas?

There is a button to download the CSV template. Just open this in MS Excel and pop the data in the cells and save as CSV again.

Hi Wayland. Thanks for the response, but that is exactly what I did. I've been able to do this with every version of ClearOS since 5.x. 7 fails. It seems that the template is actually corrupted with Zarafa information.

I suspect ClearOS 7 still has a few problems. I got on very very well with 5.2 and OK with 6. I take it you are attempting a migration?

PS, since it's only a CSV file you could try leaving out some columns. Try it with username and password and almost nothing else as a test. Then add the columns you require leaving out any you don't You could also try a test import with say one record in case one of your accounts is making it fail.

I might be able to help here...can you post a copy of the csv you're trying to import, minus any user information...I just need to see your headers basically. The CSV download is custom to every install, dependant on what plugins and extensions you have installed.

Hi Ben, I have attached a copy of a test import that I tried so that you can take a look. I hope you can do something with it.

What I am trying to do is move about 200 accounts from my ClearOS 5.2 server to 7.2.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Thanks for the file.

It would appear that your browser (MSIE?) is changing out the underscore character with AF8-...I found some chatter on the Interweb here, but I've never seen or heard this reported before.

Bottom line...fixing it is easy...use Chrome or FF or edit your template and change all references of AF8- back to _.

Really strange. I'm running a browser on a Linux box to download the template, and I only use Firefox on that machine.

That is strange...I use Linux Mint as my desktop...I've tried Chrome and FF, and cannot reproduce.

Thanks Ben for the analysis. I discovered the source of the problem. An older version of LibreOffice (4.2) didn't handle the csv save correctly, not matter what setting were used. I upgraded to the latest LibreOffice, and it worked fine. The only issue that I am having now, is that no matter what I use in the "plugins_ftp" and "plugins_smtp" fields, (0, "0", "false", "no") the result is always "yes" after the import.

I can fix it manually, but just curious what the correct content should be.

    Thanks Again.

Not that intuitive, but I think if you leave it blank it will work as expected.

    Hi Ben,

I'll try leaving it blank on the next import.

    Thanks again.
