Hi.

I have a VM ClearOS community, with 1 NIC, using standalone mode with firewall (incoming ports 81 and 8080 open).
I setup the Web Proxy Server 2.3.4-1 with Content Filter Engine 2.3.0-1 and it works without authentication (but I did configure me test client machine to use the proxy on port 8080, so my proxy is running in non-transparent mode).
I created 3 users and 1 group, and also enabled some users to use the Web Proxy Server in App Policies.

But I cannot enable user authentication; it gives me an error saying "state is invalid" (see attachments "my-settings-*.png").

Also, the screenshots on the WebProxyServer community website (https://www.clearos.com/clearfoundation/software/clearos-7-community/marketplace/gateway/Web_Proxy_Server) show a different settings page than I am having (see the already mentioned attachment "my-settings-01.png").
More specifically, in my system I cannot find the "transparent mode" setting that is mentioned in the docs (see attachment "docs-01.png").

What may I be missing, obvious or not?

I cannot set up an identical test as my server has a LAN card as well. If I set it to Standalone it takes me 2 goes to start it and the option for a transparent proxy disappears, but I can enable Authentication - I see a dropdown which allows me to enable it. Looking at your screen dump it almost looks like there is a dropdown arrow but mainly hidden. I wonder if it is a limitation of only having one NIC which I think needs a more specific set up for a proxy to work.

BTW Viewing large logs is much easier using something like WinSCP then browsing them in /var/log/. I think those messages are coming from the system log.

Can I ask if you have installed and initialised Windows Networking as that is probably needed for NTLM authentication which is an option with Authentication enabled?

    Thanks, Nick.

Installing and starting Windows Networking (Samba) from the marketplace solved the problem. Now it seems to work ok.
But I did not see any reference to that in the documentation, thats why I missed it.

Thanks for the WinSCP tip. I'm developing from an Ubuntu machine, so I might use an linux alternative to view the logs.
And yes, in forgot to mention that the screenshot is from the "system" log file.

I checked the log files, but that did not provide me with new insights.
But I'm adding the log anyways, in case it helps to discover a possible source of the problem.
