Hi all,

I'm a happy user for a long time now with clearos. LAst week i installed the 6.3 version but i encounter some problems.

When i start intrusion detection in de webconfig i get the status: ***Base_dead***
I can start snort services without problems and snortsam without problems in console as a service.

But webconfig gives me this error on both. (detection and prevention)

As i look for it in google i dont see anything about this problem.

I reinstalled the apps but same problem.

Can someone point me to a good direction to search for this problem.?
Like for example what log do i need to read? snort and snortsam and secure logs dont give me anything when i try to start it.

(btw is it normal that the tekst (status and version etc) is not between the nice lines in webconfig?:

thx for thinking with me on this.

regards,

Tim

Why do you think you're entitled to commercial grade support on a community forum? Why don't you just buy a subscription?

I've already answered a few questions here, and I've spent a good many hours researching other people's problems - for the grand total of $0. Because I am really really thankful to ClearFoundation for the great product that is ClearOS. There are several other OSes/distros that do what ClearOS does, but I have yet to find one with the same level of integration/polish/performance.

OpenBSD and FreeBSD have huge communities, yes. But if you install one of those and run into an issue that nobody else did, you're on your own. OSS bug trackers are full of bugs tagged "can't reproduce"/"won't fix".

As a final suggestion, if you want to install a gateway device, don't go for stock Open/FreeBSD, try a customized distribution like pfSense - they even sell commercial support, should you decide you need it.

    Godspeed.
