Hi,
i am using ldap.
if i am adding aliases, email adresses were not created
at the address book the aliases show as smtp: alias (not with domain)
is this normal behaviour?
if i want to add aliases with domain following occurs
****mail_extension_mail_alias_is_invalid****

Hi Christian...
What you're seeing is correct. When you add aliases for users in the web GUI, only the alias name part is added and displayed (ie the bit before the @yourdomain.com) and not the whole domain/address. However emails addressed to any of your aliases (alias@yourdomain.com) should be delivered correctly.
Have you been able to test an inbound email to any of your alias addresses yet?

Hi Andy,
thanks for your patient explanation.
thats exactly what i expected
what i did
installed clearos with business license and zarafa
added ldap
created users
added destination domains
then i changed sender in my Address
ldapvi -w "BIND-password"
Any Alias von any User did not receive Alias Email Addresses from any Domain from there on.
Question
if i am Using ldapvi, can i put in full E-Mail Aliases to users so they would have only necessary Addresses available.
Example: My Wife and my Brother do not need Company Address and my Employees do not need a Surname Domain from me.
Any Help appreciated

Hi Chriz,
I'm assuming that in addition to your main Mail Domain, you've added one or more additional Destination Domains in the SMTP page of the ClearOS GUI, so that you can receive mail for these domains also.
As you’ve discovered, you can use ldapvi to change your default email address, however, if you change this to be an address on one of your additional domains, you will then need to add a “clearMailAliases” with a full address to your main Mail Domain, or no inbound email will be received.
So for example, if you have a user and you want their primary email address to be an address of one of your additional domains, their account when viewed using ldapvi should look something like this: -
mail: user@AdditionalDomain.com
clearMailAliases: user@MainDomain.com
There is a caveat in doing this which I think you've discovered, and this is that making any subsequent changes to a users account using the ClearOS GUI may throw up an error, because the Alias entry is in conflict with the GUI form rules. I can’t remember whether all changes are lost when this occurs, so I’ll do a couple of tests and come back to you on this.
Cheers...... Andy
